The Death Of The PC

06/17/2009 · Leave a Comment

macpcdeathI was listening to a back podcast of TWIT and they were talking about the possibility of the Personal Computer going the way of 8-tracks and CD-ROM’s.

If someone had mentioned this to me a few years ago, I would have dismissed this as the ramblings of crazy people. Since joining the smartphone crowd of recent (Blackberry Curve), this started me thinking.  No matter what your flavor of smartphone I think you can agree that these devices are more computer than phone and if it wasnt for the small screen there isnt much I cant do on my phone that I can do on my laptop.

So let me through this out for your consideration. If you had a device simlar to a laptop docking station that would allow you to plug in your phone to this station and give you access to a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and a variety of other hardware devices. This could be accomplished by wireless, bluetooth or any type of interface.  With cloud computing and smartphones becoming more sosphicated I think this could be a very real possibilty.

The only thing that is missing is a 1TB microSD card.
